WHO WE ARE
|
2008 was a positive year for the Sanremo Yacht Club.
In the last years, our regattas reached a very high quality level that placed us among the first sailing clubs in Italy. Now we wish to get the same result with our sailing school and, for this purpose, we are studying a new project for year 2009.
Many were the initiatives organized in 2008. Among them we would like to remember the most important ones, such as the International Dragon Championship of Italy (“Internazionale d'Italia Dragoni”). With participation of boats of nine different nationalities, this regatta entered the official international class calendar and, therefore, we can expect a higher and even more qualified number of participants.
Wonderful boats took part in the “IOR REVIVAL”, and we can quote just a few of them, such as Stella Polare and Capricia, belonging to the Italian Navy, Steinlager, Ea, Rainbow, Huna II, Resolute Salomon and many others; each one of these boats wrote a page of the history of the modern yachting.
Finally, the Italian Snipe Championship. Snipe, as everyone knows, is a class in which our club has been involved since a very long time and many of ours skilful sailors tied out on these boats, born in the USA in 1931; even in 2008, among the first five crews classified in the championship, three belong to our club, among which the Italian Champion Enrico Solerio.
The participation of the members in the club activities has grown widely, yet I think that that we are only at the beginning of this path. We shall insist and offer new hints and new activities ; we shall create a sport and familiar environment, both pleasant and professional and our seat shall become the second home of every member and his family.
I wish to thank Municipality of Sanremo, Province of Imperia, Liguria Region, Prefecture of Imperia, Fondazione Carige and all the firms that supported and will support us in the future, to help us to realize our projects. |

The Harbour Office of Sanremo has been working side by side with us for the whole season and it deserves a warm praise for what it made to support us.
I wish to give a particular thanks to all the members of our club who have been cooperating with our staff for this year.
Congratulations to our athletes who distinguished themselves on the various regatta fields, getting first-rate results.
Finally, a sincere thanks to our staff that, as usual, did their best with professional capabilities and commitment in all the activities of our club, a rare thing, in these times.
I’m waiting for you to come in an always increasing number.
