WE PRESENT YOU THE SIXTH MEETING OF 2024!
SEA TURTLES… ON THE BEACH is an evening dedicated to discovering this small reptile which this summer set a new record for its nesting in Italy, with over 600 nests on our coasts, including several in the Riviera di Ponente.
The Carretta caretta sea turtle has nested on several beaches between Finale Ligure and Arma di Taggia, and it is estimated that the newborns of Ligurian origin will be around 320. The nests and hatchings were monitored 24 hours a day by biologists and volunteers from the Delfini del Ponente, under the coordination of GLIT, Ligurian Sea Turtle Group (Arpal, Aquarium of Genoa, Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta).
During the event, we will be accompanied by the biologists of the Delfini del Ponente association, the Consoli del Mare and our member Gianni Manuguerra as moderator.
The evening includes a DINNER-CONFERENCE at our restaurant. Price 30 euros.

The Delfini del Ponente APS association was founded in 2020 to carry out scientific research on cetaceans, seabirds and turtles and environmental education and awareness activities. It brings together people of different skills, training and ages, united by a shared purpose: to identify, through scientific research, areas of naturalistic importance and promote their protection. At the same time they are committed to sharing these issues to raise awareness of the incredible biodiversity of Western Liguria and the importance of preserving it. For those who would like to help biologists and volunteers of the association in managing and monitoring the nests 24 hours a day, it is possible to make a donation of 10 euros and give the baby turtle a name and receive photos and videos of the hatching.
Gianni Manuguerra, lover and narrator of the sea, promoter of plogging, is our member, Consul of the Sea of ββSanremo and national councilor of the ‘Sta Italia’, sailing and navigation school of the Italian Navy and the Italian Yacht Club.
The Consolato del Mare di ββSanremo is a technical body of the Famija Sanremasca, and provides, in its regulations, the defense of the sea and the coasts. The Famija Sanremasca was established in 1957 with the aim of preserving the history, traditions, art and culture of Sanremo and its area and of arousing love for the City both in those who were born there and in those who have chosen it as a stable or periodic residence. To reclaim the ancient glories of the Sanremo navy, every year the Famjia Sanremasca, with the Municipality of Sanremo, proceeds to the investiture of Consuls of the Sea, ancient magistracy of the Comunitas Sancti Romuli.
