An emotional weekend for the traditional Gianni Cozzi Trophy which this year has become part of the Trofeo di Primavera, whose next stages will be in Bordighera and Ventimiglia, on 17 and 18 May, and from 20 to 22 June with the Gallinara, organised by the Yacht Club Sant’Ampelio, Yacht Club Cala del Forte and Circolo Velico Ventimigliese.
Always eagerly awaited, the Cozzi Trophy dedicated to the unforgettable Gianni Cozzi , a visionary entrepreneur and symbolic figure of our land, is a tribute to his love for the territory, his tireless desire to innovate, and the deep connection he had with our people and our traditions.
Organized in collaboration with the Cozzi Parodi Group and D-Marin , it saw the participation of around twenty boats that challenged each other on Saturday with grit and passion, with a beautiful easterly wind of between ten and fifteen knots, which allowed the entire route to be completed quickly – starting from Sanremo, buoy at Marina di San Lorenzo and arrival at Marina degli Aregai.
Ange Transparent II, owned by Andrea Zaoli and Davide Marella, was the first to cross the finish line in real time – the winner takes it all: the ORC 1 classification, the IRC classification and the Overall trophy, ahead of her twin Miss Kappa Checkmate, owned by Marco Babando, and Gorilla XL, owned by Andrea Statari.
In the ORC 2 class, Matteo Trucco’s Flipper One wins, while in the ORC 3, Gianpiero Francese’s Beatrice climbs to the top step of the podium. The Crociera Regata class ranking is dominated by Franco Ardissone’s Spantegata, ahead of Dario Gioffredo’s Melissa II. In the Libera class, victory goes to Salvatore Vinci’s Virginia.
On Saturday evening, the splendid location of the Hotel Riviera dei Fiori in Marina di San Lorenzo hosted the crews’ party, with toasts, stories and sharing of passion for the sea, while on Sunday the awards ceremony took place at the suggestive Marina degli Aregai Resort, which welcomed everyone with elegance and warmth.
This year too, the Trofeo has been able to renew itself without losing its soul, and this demonstrates how sport, when it meets memory and heart, can create something unique. See you in 2026 with its twentieth edition: an important milestone that will be celebrated with a great sailing festival, to honor not only the memory of Gianni Cozzi, but also the history of an event that continues to grow, unite, and inspire.
