Proud of our members, athletes and crews who paid tribute to our club on the podium of the Loro Piana Giraglia 2025!
Davide Noli’s ITALIA 9.98 Farfallina 3, after 4 victories out of 4 during the coastal races in Saint Tropez, is the winner in the ORC 2 overall Combined class. The young Matteo Volpari aboard Luca Locatelli’s Swan 45 Tethis, winner of the ORC 1 class Combined and the Bellon Trophy. And third in IRC 0 Maxi A Combined Races My Song by Pier Luigi Loro Piana with Vittorio Zaoli on board.
In the Coastal Regattas, ORC 1 class, Nadine Schmitz, aboard Alberto Magnani’s Swan 45 Tengher, finished in first place, while Andrea Zaoli Change Ange Trasparent II finished in fifth place.
Congratulations to all the other participants with the YC Sanremo pennant: Paolo Bonomo’s Aurora and Andrea Statari’s Gorilla Gang XL, all in the ORC 1 class.
The winners of the Great International Regattas and Voile d’Antibes
Triumph for our pennant also at the 1st edition of the Great International Regattas for vintage and classic sailboats, 1st stage of the CIM Mediterranean Circuit and 2nd of the AIVE Cup of the Tyrrhenian Sea 2025.
In the Vintage 2 class the winner is Vistona, the 1937 gaff cutter of the Borea d’Olmo family followed by Raimund Marz’s 1914 Gaudeamus. Vistona was also awarded in the Cruise Regatta class.
The winner among the Sangermani is Sandra by Marco Carbonaro, while in the Open class Nita by Silvano Rossi and in Classic IOR the one tonner Resolute Salmon by Gina Zaoli, helmed by our President Beppe Zaoli, followed in second position by Il Moro di Venezia by Massimiliano Ferruzzi with Commodore Umberto Zocca di Montelupo and Daniele Bonetto on board.
Among the participants of our club, the Bermudan slop Fifi by Stefania Didonè, the one-tonner Bonnie by Federico Barbieri, Huna II by Sandro Cepollina and Charlomio by Giardino/Guerra.
The following week, some of our members moved to the Côte d’Azur to participate in the traditional appointment of the vintage sailing circuit, the Voiles de Antibes: here Sandra won fifth place in the IOR class, the Bermudan sloop Fifi a nice third place in Epoca Marconi B, and Gaudeamus twelfth in Epoca Aurica A.
The offshore regattas of spring 2025
At the beginning of June in Barcelona, the Italia Yacht 9.98 Sarchiapone Fuoriserie of our member Gianluigi Dubbini, “AVUI Owner of the Year 2024”, fought to the end to win second place in the ORC of the famous Conde de Godò BMW Trophy!
Subsequently, at the 151 Miglia 2025 Livorno-Punta Ala – the Cetilar Trophy among the enchanting islands of the Tuscan Archipelago used as buoys – among the 190 participating boats, the pennant of our yacht club was on board with, in IRC class B, Free Spirit by Rossi Paolo in 7th place, in ORC B Flipper One by Trucco Matteo in 7th place, and in Class A Miss K Checkmate by Marco Babando in 31st. But it doesn’t end there: congratulations to our athletes aboard the First 44.7 Matador of Emilio Milanino, winner IRC Overall!
A few days later, at the Solaris Cup 2025 in Porto Rotondo, the annual event that brings together the owners of these yachts in four days of coastal racing between the islands of Gallura, with optimal weather conditions, we see in second place CRAB of our athlete Roberto Bosio and in seventh place Farevell IV of our member Alberto Franchella.
Also on Italian territory, last March at the Genoa Sailing Week and Coppa Alberti, Farfallina 3 won in ORC 2; CRAB and Flipper One also participated. Shortly after, the Alassio ORC Offshore Sailing Week was won by Sarchiapone Fuoriserie.
In May, however, at the Italian RS 21 Under 23 Match Race Championship, two of our young athletes Federico Bortesi and Valerio Mugnano got on the podium by winning a nice second place. And at the end of the month, again on another podium, that of the Italian Fireball Championship in Sanremo: Federico Italian Champion and Under 25 crewed with Cicconetti, and Valerio awarded in the Classic category.
Smeralda 888 Class
Also this year several of our members are engaged in the regattas of the Smeralda 888, a one-design designed by German Frers and built by the Galetti shipyard that sails on the Primo Cup circuit in Monaco, with intermediate stops between the French Riviera and Liguria.
At the Primo Cup Trophee UBS last March on the three steps of the podium all our members: gold with Andrea Zaoli, Michele Orlando and Davide Maretta on Germano Scarpa’s Giada; silver with Vittorio Zaoli aboard Giovanni Lombardi Stronati’s Django; bronze for Paolo Bonetto and Max Kuester on Marco Favale’s Millenium Falcon.
In the next stage in Alassio, 5th Luigi Carpaneda Trophy, congratulations again for the 2nd place of Vittorio Zaoli on Django, and Michele Orlandi and Andrea Zaoli on Giada.
Dragoon Class
A class that is always well represented by our club: after winning the Coupe de l’Amitieè in Cannes, Transbunker won the International Italian Dragon Cup organized by our club in March. The Italian Championship, on the other hand, sees President Beppe Zaoli’s Dragon Fly in second place and our athlete Marco Gerbaudo, former 2024 Italian champion, third.
Marco moved his dragon to the Iberian Peninsula in the spring to participate, the only Italian, in the Grand Prix Cascais and King Juan Carlos Trophy, 18th place. At the Dragon World Championship by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts Vilamoura, the only Italians were Transbunker and Dragondine who took 13th and 42nd place respectively.
The Austrian Dragon Grand Prix has just ended with Trasbunker – Yevgeni Braslavets, Aleksei Zigadlo and Davide Marrella – on the third step of the podium! Second among the Italians and 13th overall Dragondine – Marco Gerbaudo, Camilla Michelini, Davide Ortelli and Andrea Totis.
