A new fabulous adventure at the Sanremo Yacht Club.
31 March 2022News at the Sanremo Yacht Club with the RS21 CUP YAMAMAY – ACT 2.
12 May 2022We are not talking about the Chinese New Year but about the beautiful event that took place in the waters of the Gulf of Sanremo: 63 boats from all over the world are battled for the title of European Champion of the Dragon Class.
Organized by the Yacht Club Sanremo, now always at the top of world sailing, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Sanremo and the Liguria Region, without which it would be difficult to organize events of this magnitude, with not simple logistics, of the Portosole marina within which the hauling and launching operations took place and with the support of the Sanremo Casino where the gala dinner and the award ceremony of the races held until Thursday were held in the Roof Garden.
The sailors have been here for more than a week and have invaded the city streets to discover the most evocative corners of our city. The many pleasant moments, besides the competition, were very exciting, every evening the Yacht Club Sanremo presented different dishes and drinks accompanied by excellent music. A lot of the Gin Tonic party after the regatta offered by Hendricks Gin, the selection of pastas from the crowded Italian tradition offered by Yanmar and the beautiful Paul & Shark t-shirts. Furthermore, the hospitality of the Hotel Royal is fundamental, always alongside sporting initiatives.
Five days of racing and 5 races completed at the end, the success went to Wolf Waschum’s SUI 318 who, with two firsts of the day, thus won the title. In second place Pedro Robelo de Andrade with the new Por 89 boat winner of the last test. Third in the overall NED 412 classification of Peter Heerema always in the leading group. Winner in the Corinthian class is the German Philippe Hoeker who finishes in an excellent 12th position. A championship that has given strong emotions and a very close ranking demonstrating the high technical level. The Dragons will return to Sanremo next autumn for the second edition of the Dragon Winter Series.
