3rd Winter Leg in Regatta 15 and 16 January 2022 YACHT CLUB SANREMO.
Two days of sunshine, blue skies and a nice wind welcomed the competitors with the new year.
On Saturday a south-easterly wind of around 11 knots accompanied the fleet on a coastal course of 12 miles for the ORC and IRC class and around 8 miles for the RACING CLUB class. The best of the day in ORC class was Miss K; in the IRC Class, on the other hand, the Pingone di Mare IIII excelled, in the RACING CLUB class Obi Wan was certainly the best.
On Sunday another beautiful sunny day and spring temperatures welcomed the fleet with a light south-west wind of eight knots. The Race Committee opted for a windward-leeward course, to be covered in three laps for the ORC and IRC classes and only two laps for the Racing Club.
In the general classification of winter racing, in the Orc class, IL PINGONE DI MARE IIII triumphed, helmed by Federico Stoppani of the Sanremo Yacht Club. Second place for Checkmate by Marco Babando and third place Resolute Salmon with Beppe Zaoli at the helm. Leading the ranking in the Irc class is always the Pingone di Mare IIII, which is imposed on Checkmate. Finally, in the Racing Club, Obi-Wan by Elisa Minio C.V. Cape Verde who defended the primacy in front of Mario Beraldi of Veladoc’s Liberamente, with third place for XElor of Alessio Marziano Porto Maurzio Yacht Club.
Next and last appointment for West Liguria on February 26th and 27th with the grand finale and the Sailing Festival.
