Event description

CRESCERE CON LA VELA – The Open Day was a huge success: free courses were assigned, and new spots were available for the city’s young people.

Great participation on Saturday 21 March for the Open Day at our yacht club dedicated to children from the city’s primary and middle schools , during which 50 free sailing courses lasting six months were assigned .

“The initiative was born with the goal of introducing young Sanremo residents to the world of sailing, an accessible, educational, and fulfilling sport that helps them develop independence and responsibility,” commented our President Beppe Zaoli . “For over seventy years, our school has promoted maritime education and sailing among young people. We are confident that the children’s enthusiasm will also inspire their families.”

Accompanied by their parents, the little Sanremo children visited the club, met the instructors who will accompany them on the courses and discovered our sailing school’s boats up close, starting with the Optimists .

Eyes wide open and filled with wonder as they watched the rudder, the sails, and the spaces on board begin to move: “Are we really going to sea, out to sea?”, “But if the rudder goes to port, does the boat go to starboard?!”, “Shall we also do a capsize test?” So many questions that demonstrated a great curiosity and desire to test themselves in those who we hope will become passionate sailors.

The convivial moment concluded with refreshments at our restaurant, helping to create a welcoming and family atmosphere.

Due to the numerous requests we received, we have decided to offer additional free places for young people who were unable to attend the Open Day. The courses are scheduled to start on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April at 9.30 am .

We would like to thank again the schools that helped spread the initiative: Sanremo Ponente Comprehensive School, Sanremo Centro Comprehensive School, Sanremo Centro Levante Comprehensive School, the Almerini Foundation, and the Mater Misericordiae Institute.
