Two days of north-east wind accompanied the West Ligurian fleet. On Saturday 21st January, a nice north wind between eight and 15 knots allowed a beautiful 10-mile coastal regatta to take place with the absolute winner Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, in front of Pingone di Mare IIII: a beautiful regatta not easy to interpret due to the gusts of wind and the slight changes of direction.
Sunday 22 January boats in the water at the scheduled time with a wind that initially seemed the same as the day before: the committee prepares to give the departure but in the following minutes the wind increases considerably arriving on the gusts to exceed thirty knots, thus bringing the Committee to send everyone ashore, with great regret.
Leading the classification in the Orc A class is Alberto Franchella’s FAREWELL IV, followed by Francesco Corazza’s SHE IS THE ONE. Third place for GORILLA GANG XL, by Andrea Statari. In Orc B first place for SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE, by Gianluigi Dubbini, second IL PINGONE DI MARE IIII, by Federico Stoppani.
Third classified ETCHELLENT, by Marco Cimarosti. The highest step of the podium, in the Irc class, went to IL PINGONE DI MARE IIII, which prevailed on GORILLA GANG XL. The West Liguria Championship will end on the weekend of 25/26 February with the last stage: the SAILING FESTIVAL. In the meantime, the activity of the Sanremo Yacht Club does not stop: one more stage of the Dragon Winter Series and the 420 & 470 The Carnival Race, which is reconfirming itself rather rich in foreign and Italian crews.
