A spring sun and climate welcomed the racers from all over Europe for this second stage of the Dragon Class Winter Championship.
A Sanremo that for three days gave the participants of this first edition a decidedly mild climate with a nice wind that was the protagonist: five beautiful regattas between seven and fifteen knots, with great enthusiasm of the racers, especially for those coming from the Northern Europe, such as Finland, Germany or Russia, which certainly did not expect such favorable conditions. The Abate Trophy was fought to the last edge: after four races, four crews were grouped together in just two points of difference, only the completion of the fifth race determined the final classification. The winner was Rocknrolla (RUS 76), by Dmitry Samokhin ahead of FEVER (GBR 819), by the English driver Klaus Diederichs and BUNKER PRINCE (ITA 77) with Eugeny Braslavets at the helm. First of the Corinthians was the Italian Fabio Mangione, fifth in the general classification. The Dragons who elected Sanremo as their capital this year will return for the third stage in January, then the final of the Winter Series will be in February. But their season in the Sanremo waters does not end here: they will return in March for the classic Dragon Cup while in April 2022 the culmination with the European Championship.
