Like all spring in March in the waters of Sanremo, organized by the local Yacht Club, the Dragons return.
After a non-stop month of February with over a thousand participants between Optimists, 420s and ORCs, it is the traditional time for the Paul&Shark Trophy.
Thirty-four boats entered from ten different countries to try to take home this trophy and nine Italian boats that will compete for the title of Italian Champion. The level with the current European and World Champions in charge is the Swiss Wolf Waschkuhn and the German Klaus Diederichs who boasts the current world champion of the Star class, Diego Negri, on board.
Great satisfaction for the organizers in a difficult year with the nearby World Championship in Bodrum in Turkey and the Russian fleet among the most numerous in the world that will not be able to participate. The fight for the title of Italian Champion will also be exciting: the holder of the Giuseppe Duca Trophy will be missing but the two boats helmed by the Zaoli family will be present, Mario Quaranta from Imperia with Marco Gallo at the helm and Fabio Mangione with his splendid wooden dragon and many others who will fight to the end.
All this is made possible by the patronage of the Liguria Region, the support of the City of Sanremo and the usual local supporters Abate Gioielli, Portosole Sanremo, the Royal Hotel, where the cocktail party for the participants will be held on Friday evening, and the Cozzi Parodi Group. The Dragon class will still be present in Sanremo in the second half of August with the first Wooden Dragon World Championship.
