The Trophee Grimaldi ended with a change of program but great satisfaction for the success on the part of the organizers and participants.
Difficult weather, already forecast for a few days, has led the organizing clubs to do hard work to find alternative solutions: in fact the Sanremo Yacht Club, the Monaco Yacht Club and the Cala del Forte Yacht Club have been forced to adapt to extreme weather conditions, canceling Friday’s Sanremo Cala del Forte stage due to dangerous sea and wind conditions.
Saturday morning briefing at 9.30 am and start of the regatta but not with the expected Sanremo Monaco route but rather an inshore regatta in the Matuzian waters with very challenging weather conditions.
After the first test at the top of the ORC1 class we find SUSPIRIA THE REVENGE, by Antonino Venneri, which also establishes itself in the IRC class; in the ORC2 Class SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE, by Gianluigi Dubbini; in Class ORC3 THE SEA GRIFFIN by Gianni Trapani.
In the REGATA CROCIERA class, first place was won by OBI WAN, by Elisa Minio; in the FREE Class, FLIPPER ONE, by Matteo Trucco, was at the top of the rankings.
Saturday evening big party for the participants at the Monaco Yacht Club with dancing and shows. New regatta in Sanremo on Sunday on a windward-leeward course with residual waves and winds around 10 knots.
The predictions for the winners were confirmed with great satisfaction for the choices of the Organizing Committee by the racers.
After two races, first place in the Overall ranking for SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE. In the ORC1 Class on the podium we find MISS K CHECKMATE, by Marco Babando, followed by SUSPIRIA THE REVENGE and MELISSA, by Domenico D’Ambros.
In ORC2, SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE wins, second place for AURORA, by Paolo Bonomo and Roberto Bruno. Third place for BIG BANG by Arturo Mazzanti.
IL GRIFONE DI MARE establishes itself IN ORC3, followed by CACTUS by Michele Siccardi and VELAX1, by Alfredo Mantovani.
In IRC first place for SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE, second SUSPIRIA THE REVENGE, third BIG BANG.
In the REGATA CROCIERA OBI WAN wins, second place for GIUBA, by Giovanni Gerosa. Third MELISSA II, by Dario Gioffredo.
Finally, the place in the LIBERA Class was won by FLIPPER ONE, followed by LUPO BIANCO by Umberto Maffè and LIBERTA’ by Riccardo Rollo.
Next appointment with the second stage of the “AUTUMN IN REGATTA” Winter Championship scheduled for the weekend of 18/19 November and 2/3 December.
