We present the eighth meeting that we have called “Sperm whales and Cuvier’s beaked whales, great freedivers of the Pelagos Sanctuary”: dedicated to learning more about these fascinating cetaceans accompanied by Sabina Airoldi, Project Director and Scientific Coordinator of Tethys Research Institute.
We will be accompanied by Sabina Airoldi, Project Director and Scientific Coordinator of Tethys Research Institute, the Consoli del Mare, and our member Gianni Manuguerra as moderator.
The evening includes a DINNER-CONFERENCE at our restaurant, priced at 30 euros.
Sabina Airoldi, marine biologist, Project Director and Scientific Coordinator of Tethys Research Institute, science communicator, began conducting research on cetaceans in 1987; she helped found and manage the research and conservation project in the waters of Ionian Greece, the Ionian Dolphin Project, and founded and directed the SLOPE, Squid Loving Odontocetes ProjEct, a long-term research project on the socio-ecology and behavior of odontocetes living in the Western Ligurian Sea.
Gianni Manuguerra , a sea enthusiast and storyteller, promoter of plogging, is our member, Consul of the Sea of Sanremo and national councilor of ‘Sta Italia’, the sailing and navigation school of the Italian Navy and the Italian Yacht Club.
The Consolato del Mare di Sanremo is a technical body of the Famija Sanremasca, and provides, in its regulations, the defense of the sea and the coasts.
The Famija Sanremasca was established in 1957 with the aim of preserving the history, traditions, art, and culture of Sanremo and its district and to inspire love for the City both in those who were born there and in those who have chosen it as a permanent or periodic residence.
To reclaim the ancient glories of the Sanremo navy, every year the Famjia Sanremasca, with the Municipality of Sanremo, proceeds to the investiture of Consuls of the Sea, an ancient magistracy of the Comunitas Sancti Romuli.
