he great sailing is back in Sanremo. After the long stop for the lockdown, this weekend an appointment at sea, in front of the city of flowers, for an important international regatta. This is the 5.5 Im European Championship, organized by the Sanremo Yacht Club, one of the most important sporting realities that organizes not only high level events, but also tournaments and appointments that bring hundreds of sea lovers to the Riviera during the year.

A European championship, in fact, in which not only boats that arrive from all over Europe, but also two sails that come from very far away, from the Bahamas.

The international sailing championship opens the long succession of sporting events that take place in Sanremo between late summer and early autumn. Many of which are organized by the Sanremo Yacht Club.

Nine nations will be present at this event. Great champions will compete for the title. Well-known personalities in the world of fans are expected in the city, such as Markus Wieser, or sailing stars such as Mateusz Kusnierewicz, Olympic gold and bronze medalist and winner of three world championships in the Olympic classes.

The championship will involve boats born from a formula of the early twentieth century, which over the years have gradually evolved into extremely sophisticated machines, which adopt very advanced technological solutions.

The competitions are very fierce. The athletes are of the highest level and among other things crowd the Matuzian hotels, the shopping and entertainment streets.

But sailing is not just an elite sport. From the shore you can admire these “ladies of the sea” dancing pushed by the winds and the breeze of the waves, and among other things it often happens that some crews may need help, miss one or more people, and here the kids who learn sailing in Sanremo and who attend the Yacht Club sometimes become part of important crews, in contact with great champions of international sailing.
