38th INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF THE MEDITERRANEAN 9/11 DECEMBER 2022
20 December 2022The second stage of the DRAGON WINTER SERIES Winter Championship is over.
20 December 2022From 9 to 11 December 150 Optimists, the first boat for all the very young, pleasantly invaded the Old Port of Sanremo this week for the traditional Mediterranean Meeting now in its thirty-eighth edition: An important number that increasingly demonstrates the appreciation of sailors of all ages for the city, its regatta field and the organization of the Sanremo Yacht Club.
The weather was unfortunately not favorable and the lack of wind forced the young sailors ashore for the first two days of the race. Sunday 11th December, a beautiful sunny day and a wind between 12 and 20 knots from the West made it possible to compete in three beautiful races, leaving everyone very happy in any case.
In the Cadets Division B class, Chia Davolio Marani (Circolo Vela Torbole) won the first step of the podium, who also won first place for women. Second place for the Ukrainian Roman Vyevyenko (Fraglia Vela Riva) and third place for Nicolò Lonardi (Fraglia Vela Malcesine). Fourth place for Gionata Fravezzi (Circolo Vela Torbole), fifth place for the French Lilou Backes of the YCPR, sixth place for the French Timeo Cuinet (Yacht Club de Cavalaire) and seventh place for Nicolò Chemasi (Fraglia Vela Malcesine). Eighth position for Paul Masson (Club de Voile de Bormes), ninth place for Leonardo Di Silvestro (Club Nautico Bogliasco) and tenth place for the French Augustin Sorin (YCPR). In the Juniores Division A category, Emilia Salvatore of Fraglia Vela Desenzano won first place, who also won first place for women; second place for Andrea Vitali (Circolo Velico Lago di Lugano), third place for Alessandro Verani (CV Tivano). Fourth place for the French Vianeey Jacquot (La Pelle Marseille), fifth place for Elisa Bombana (CV Torbole) followed by the Swiss Lars Keller (YCA Arbon). Seventh was the French Mathias Krauss (La Pelle Marseille). Eighth place for the French Julie Tricaud Revil (YC De Cannes) and ninth place for Benedetta Catania, of the Italian Yacht Club. Tenth place for Andrea Avitabile of the Circolo Velico Lago di Lugano. The prize for the youngest ever among all the competitors goes to Maria Luce Simoneschi of the Circolo Velico Lago di Lugano.
This year it was the Circolo La Pelle Marseille that won the Dino Minaglia Trophy, named in memory of a great member of the Sanremo Yacht Club who has always worked hard for youth activities, which rewards the best Club which, among the Juniores, has obtained the three best placings with Vianney Jacquot, Mathias Krauss and Ernest Lacroix. A beautiful event that demonstrates the vitality of the city all year round and of its circle that never stops: before Christmas, the Sanremo Yacht Club will host yet another stage of the Dragon Winter Series with the wonderful class of Dragons.
