INTERNATIONAL 5.5 METRE CLASS EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

A splendid day welcomed the fleet of racers, two tests carried out with south-west wind between 7 and 10 knots, ideal conditions for this type of boats.

At the top of the standings the Swiss boat MOMO, currently in the lead with 4 points, two ahead of the multiple Olympic champion, the Polish Mateusz Kusznierewicz with the ASPIRE boat, followed by one point from the Swiss CARACOLE. Following the two boats from the Bahamas all divided by a single point.

So very close fight and today we return to sea for the second day of racing.

The organization, in times of COVID, is obviously more difficult and the convivial moments rather reduced but well organized by the Club, which enjoys the support of the Municipality of Sanremo which together with the Royal Hotel, the Abate Jewelery and the Cozzi Parodi Group form a great value support group.

These splendid boats are truly fascinating and extremely technical: only high-class sailors know how to make the most of their performance.

13 years have passed since the last participation in Sanremo of the 5.5 International Class Meter, with the World Championship. The current European Championship represents a precious opportunity for meeting and collaboration between the Club and the Class.
