2021 420 World Championships
21 December 2020Concluded the “The Carnival Race” organized by the Yacht Club Sanremo
23 February 2021In a particularly difficult year for all sectors, the great effort of the Sanremo Yacht Club in organizing large events was rewarded by the number and origin of the members. The regatta, in fact, has been included in the Eurosaf circuit: 4 events in 4 different European countries, a source of pride for the organizers. More than one hundred boats from various countries will compete in the waters of Sanremo from Thursday 18 February on the occasion of the “420 & 470 The Carnival Race”, a traditional appointment for the 420 and 470 classes. There are currently 8 participating nations: Turkey, France, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, and of course Italy. Many athletes will arrive to train as early as this weekend, staying in our city for 10 days, bringing some breathing space to the agonizing tourism sector. Traditionally this event has always taken place in Marina degli Aregai but, precisely to help the local economy, the board of the Yacht Club Sanremo has decided to have the regatta run in Sanremo, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Sanremo which has granted spaces and permits to accommodate boats and means of transport. A real party at sea for young sailors, despite the fact that no events have been planned on land this year precisely for the containment of the COVID requirements. After less than a month, the spectacular catamarans of almost 10 meters, the M32, will arrive in our port, which will return once a month for three months for the European Series. The following week the traditional Dragons will return, to demonstrate that the Sanremo association never stops even in the most difficult moments.
