Like all spring in March in the waters of Sanremo, organized by the local Yacht Club, the Dragons return. After a non-stop month of February with over a thousand participants between Optimists, 420s and ORCs, it is the traditional time for the Paul&Shark Trophy. Thirty-four boats entered from ten different countries to try to take home this trophy and nine Italian boats that will compete for the title of Italian Champion. The level with the current European and World Champions in charge is the Swiss Wolf Waschkuhn and the German Klaus Diederichs who boasts the current world champion of the Star class, Diego Negri, on board. Marina degli Aregai, 3/5 March 2022. 05 March 2023 – An east wind of around 10 knots accompanied the start of the third and final day of racing of the first stage of the Optimist Italia Kinder Joy Of Moving Trophy, underway since last Friday at the Sanremo Yacht Club and with almost 350 young sailors from all over Italy and from Lithuania, the Principality of Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. Another weekend at the Sanremo Yacht Club during which the “Festival della Vela” took place, the fourth stage of West Liguria, which marked the conclusion of the Winter Sailing Championship, organized by the Sanremo Yacht Club and now in its thirty-ninth edition, which sees the overall final victory of SARCHIAPONE FUORISERIE by Gianluigi Dubbini, on equal points but with a better final result with IL PINGONE DI MARE IIII by Federico Stoppani, winner in the IRC ranking. There were two particular days in the Gulf of Sanremo for this final: on Saturday the absence of wind kept the crews on the ground while on Sunday, with a north-easterly wind, a race was held with a quick return due to the arrival of the perturbation. Record participation in the ninth edition of the 420&470 The Carnival Race, organized by the Yacht Club Sanremo, with the precious support of the Cozzi Parodi Group, in the magical location of Marina degli Aregai. 185 boats for the 420 class and 15 for the 470 class, coming from as many as 13 countries: Spain, Germany, Great Britain, France, Poland, Greece, Lithuania, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland, Turkey and Italy gathered to four days of racing. The light wind and the calm sea made it possible to compete in 5 beautiful races with a margin applied. Fourth and last act of the Dragon Winter Series, in Sanremo, in the week OF February 3/5. Beautiful conditions also in this last series and a program respected in full: five races completed with one discard applied. Friday 3 February two stages with a west and two bullets for Beppe Zaoli. On Saturday 4th February, Fabio Mangione won first place with JAVELIN in a test, again with a westerly wind. On Sunday, a beautiful east on twelve /14 knots saw the double success of the Germans of GER 1232 JAM. SUN AND WIND IN SAN REMO FOR “WINTER IN REGATTA”, third and penultimate stage of the WEST LIGURIA WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP. Two days of north-east wind accompanied the West Ligurian fleet. On Saturday 21st January, a nice north wind between eight and 15 knots allowed a beautiful 10-mile coastal regatta to take place with the absolute winner Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, in front of Pingone di Mare IIII: a beautiful regatta not easy to interpret due to the gusts of wind and the slight changes of direction.
