23 November 2023A difficult first day in Sanremo for the Women’s 420 Championship and the November Race: On Friday 3 November, strong winds with three meter waves forced the Race Committee to cancel today’s races early, a decision expected by the participants.
There was no shortage of moments of fun: the Club organized football matches on the nearby beach. Saturday 4 November for the one hundred crews the starting time is scheduled for 9.30 am, trusting in a weather window before a further worsening of the weather conditions: in fact, three regattas were held for the girls and 2 for the boys.
With three races completed in the overall ranking, the Italian title was won by LISA VUCETTI and ALICE LINUSSI, of the Società Velica Barcola e Grignano, followed by the Polish PAULINA RUTKOWSKA who also won first place Under 19.
Third place was EUGENIA SCHIAVON and BIANCA PASTORINO , of the Yacht Club Adriaco. First Place Under 17 for MARGHERITA PILLAN and GIULIA MASSARI, of the Pietas Julia Nautical Society.
For the November Race it was very difficult for the Regatta Committee to manage a decidedly competitive fleet to the point of always starting out of line despite repeated black flags. On Sunday again prohibitive conditions with rough seas and winds of thirty knots. So After two races in the OVERALL ranking of the NOVEMBER RACE, first place goes to CORRADO CICCONETTI and FRANCESCO VASSALLO, from the Circolo Vele Vernazzolesi, also first in the Under 19 ranking.
Second place goes to QUAN ADRIANO CARDI and MATTIA TOGNOCCHI, from the Circolo Velico Antignano.
First Under 17 were the Polish ROK KOVACIC and TEO GERZELJ. Third place for the Poles JAN ZAMOJSKI and OLGA WIETEK, who also won first place in the Mixed crew.
This Championship ends characterized by particularly adverse conditions but nevertheless by an important participation with six nations present and many local crews which highlight the vitality of the class.
