Fourth and last act of the Dragon Winter Series, in Sanremo, in the week OF February 3/5. Beautiful conditions also in this last series and a program respected in full: five races completed with one discard applied. Friday 3 February two stages with a west and two bullets for Beppe Zaoli. On Saturday 4th February, Fabio Mangione won first place with JAVELIN in a test, again with a westerly wind. On Sunday, a beautiful east on twelve /14 knots saw the double success of the Germans of GER 1232 JAM. A completely Italian podium where the domination of this last stage was ITA 79 ROCK’N’ ROLLA FOR EMMARA, helmed by Andrea Zaoli. SUN AND WIND IN SAN REMO FOR “WINTER IN REGATTA”, third and penultimate stage of the WEST LIGURIA WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP. Two days of north-east wind accompanied the West Ligurian fleet. On Saturday 21st January, a nice north wind between eight and 15 knots allowed a beautiful 10-mile coastal regatta to take place with the absolute winner Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, in front of Pingone di Mare IIII: a beautiful regatta not easy to interpret due to the gusts of wind and the slight changes of direction. Sunday 22 January boats in the water at the scheduled time with a wind that initially seemed the same as the day before: the committee prepares to give the departure but in the following minutes the wind increases considerably arriving on the gusts to exceed thirty knots, thus bringing the Committee to send everyone ashore, with great regret. The third and penultimate stage of the Dragon Winter Series has ended with two days arriving with little wind which did not allow racing but with a beautiful Sunday with a nice westerly wind between eight and eleven knots which allowed the performance of three exciting regattas despite the numerous wind shifts always well interpreted by the Race Committee. The Dragoni class winter championship reasserts itself more and more at a high level and the strong foreign participation is the confirmation. Two local crews triumph for the first time with Andrea Zaoli, son of President Beppe, in first place, who surpasses him in the standings, followed by the Dutchman of Tomahawk and the Germans of Jam. From 9 to 11 December 150 Optimists, the first boat for all the very young, pleasantly invaded the Old Port of Sanremo this week for the traditional Mediterranean Meeting now in its thirty-eighth edition: An important number that increasingly demonstrates the appreciation of sailors of all ages for the city, its regatta field and the organization of the Sanremo Yacht Club. The weather was unfortunately not favorable and the lack of wind forced the young sailors ashore for the first two days of the race. Sunday 11th December, a beautiful sunny day and a wind between 12 and 20 knots from the West made it possible to compete in three beautiful races, leaving everyone very happy in any case. Great success of participation in the International Meeting of the Mediterranean class Optimist now in its thirty-eighth edition: almost 170 very young sailors, divided into the two categories Cadets (born from 2012 to 2013) and Juniores (born from 2007 to 2011), will crowd the Porto Vecchio area of Sanremo, moved by a great passion for the sea and for a healthy and ecological sport such as sailing.
